Article
Adjective এর ন্যায় ব্যবহৃত a, an ও the কে Article বলে।
Article দুই প্রকার। যথা: (1) Indefinite Article,
(2) Definite Article.

Indefinite Article: A এবং An কে Indefinite Article বলে।
Definite Article: The কে Definite Article বলে।
Omission of the article-
Rule 01: সাধারনত বুঝাতে শরীরের অঙ্গপ্রতঙ্গের নামের পূর্বে article বসে না। কিন্তু বিশেষভাবে বুঝাতে article বসে।
যেমন- Heart is an important argon of our body.
The heart of the patient does not function properly.
Rule 02: সাধারনভাবে বুঝাতে hobby এর পূর্বে article বসে না। তবে সাধারনভাবে না বুঝালে বা বিশেষভাবে বুঝালে article বসে।
যেমন- Hobby means ore’s favorite occupation.
I have a hobby. The hobby is gardening.
Rule 03: সাধারত material noun এর পূর্বে article বসে না। তবে এদের নিদিষ্ট করে বুঝালে Article বসে।
যেমন- Gold is a precious metal.
The gold of South Africa is of good quality.
Rule 04: সাধারনত Abstract noun এর পূর্বে Article বসে না। তবে নিদিষ্ট কবে বুঝালে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন- Patience is a virtue.
The Kindness of nuskrat is gread.
Rule 05: প্রকৃত অর্থে nature এর পূর্বে the বসে না।
যেমন- Nature looks very fine at a moon-lit-night.
Rule 06: Game/ sport এর নামের পূর্বে the বসে না।
যেমন- Football is my favorite game.
তবে উপকারন অর্থে Aricle বসে।
যেমন- He was nice (adjective)
Rule 07: Adjective এর পরে কোন noun না থাকলে adjective এর পূর্বে কোন Article বসে না।
যেমন- He was nice (adjective)
Use of A and An-
Rule 01: সাধারনত শব্দের শুরুতে Consonant (b,c,d….z) থাকলে তার পূর্বে Article ’a’ বসে।
যেমন- I have a pen.
Rule 02: সাধারনত শব্দের শুরুতে vowel (a,e,i,o,u) থাকলে তার পূর্বে Article ‘an’ বসে।
যেমন- The game has come to an end.
Rule 03: To be verb এর পর সাধারনত Article ‘a/an’ বসে।
যেমন- Nusrat is a student.
It is an umbrella.
Rule 04: তুলনা অর্থে proper noun যদি common noun রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে Article ‘a/an’ বসে।
যেমন- You will be a N.C. I think.
Joy will be able to become an Nusrat Chowdhury.
Rule 5: কোন word এর শুরুতে consonant ‘h’ থাকলে এবং উচ্চারন যদি ‘হ’ হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে Article ‘a’ বসে। যেমন- a+hand/horse/hobby/hare/
hall/handicraft/heard/hammer/hotel ইত্যাদি।
1. It is a hall of resident.
2. It is a herd of cattle/sheep/elephants.
Rule 6: কোন word- এর শুরুতে consonant ‘h’ থাকলে এবং উচ্চারন যদি ‘অ/আ/এ’ এর মতে হয় তাহলে তারপূর্বে Article ‘an’ বসে। যেমন- an+honest/
honours/honorable/honorary/hous/heir+N.
1. NC is an honest person.
Rule 7: a+hundred/thousand/million+N(pl)
যেমন- He wants to live for a hundred year.
I have saved a thousand pounds.
Rule 08: a/an+pleasure/delight/achievement/danger/joy/attraction/failure(আনন্দদায়ক/বিপদজনক বস্তু/ব্যাক্তি)।
যেমন- He is a danger.
Sonargaon is joy.
Rule 09: সাধারণত singular countable noun (যা গননা করা যায় ) কে প্রথম বার উল্লেখিত হলে অথবা অনেকগুলোর মধ্যে যেকোনো একটিকে নির্দেশ করলে তার পূর্বে ‘a/an’ বসে।
যেমন- We had takwn to be a little man.
This is an easy task.
Rule 10: অপরিচিত বা সম্মানিত ব্যক্তি বোঝাতে Mr/Mrs/Miss-এর পূর্বে ’a’ বসে।
যেমন- A Mr.Korim has been arrested.
Use of The-
Rule 01: নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝালে সব Number এবং সব Gende ও Noune এর পূর্বে The বসে।
যেমন- The boy. The girl.
Rule 02: নদী, সাগর, উপসাগর, মহাসাগর, পর্বতশ্রেণী, দীপপুঞ্জ, জাহাজ, মরুভূমি ইত্যাদি নামের পূর্বে The বসে।
যেমন- The Himalayas. The Padma.
Rule 03: ধর্মগ্রন্ত, পত্রিকার নাম, একক বস্তু যেমন- পৃথিবী, চন্দ্র, সূর্য, এবং দিকের নাম এর আগে The বসে।
যেমন- The Quran. The Daily Star.
Rule 04: জাতি ও সম্প্রদায়ের নামের পূর্বে ভৌগলিক নামের পূর্বে, তারিখের পূর্বে The বসে।
যেমন- The caw is useful animal.
The 12th of December.
Rule 05: Superlative Degree এর Adjective এর পূর্বে এবং Double comperative Degree এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন- Dhaka is the largest city in Bangladesh.
NC is the finest young player now.
Rule 05: একই গুনসম্পন্ন দুই ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুর সহিত তুলনা করা হলে যার সাথে তুলনা করা হয় তান পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন- Nazrul is the Byron of Bengal.
